ABOUT THIS PROJECT
For decades, Bulgarian composers, lyricists, arrangers, and performers who created musical works of exceptionally high artistic quality were unable to present their creativity on the free European and global music market due to language barriers and the political restrictions of the Cold War era.
This also applies to many works created after 1990 and up until Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union—and even afterwards—because of financial constraints and the lack of a consistent national cultural policy in this field.
The authors of this project undertake the challenge of re-releasing ten of these timeless Bulgarian songs with poetic translations into English (in accordance with the genre and artistic direction of certain songs, some will also be presented in French and Spanish), new arrangements tailored to the style of each song, digital recordings by professional singers and musicians, the production of music videos for selected songs, and the release of a digital album. The album will be promoted on European and global music platforms and presented live in three concerts on European stages and at festivals.
The project is non-commercial. The digital album will be provided free of charge to Bulgarian cultural institutes and embassies in the countries of the European Union and worldwide, with the aim of presenting contemporary Bulgarian culture in the field of popular music from the second half of the 20th century to international audiences, as well as featuring it on prestigious European radio stations and television programmes.
The music and video productions created under the project will be accompanied by a printed and online publication, which, in an engaging narrative style, will tell the story of each song and present its creators. In this way, for the first time, a targeted effort will be made to introduce European audiences to the work of a number of iconic Bulgarian artists who created masterpieces of pop music that have never been released in European languages and are virtually unknown to global pop culture.

КАКВО ПРЕДСТАВЛЯВА ТОЗИ ПРОЕКТ
Десетилетия наред българските композитори, текстописци, аранжори и изпълнители, създали музикални продукти на много високо ниво, нямаха възможност поради езиковата бариера и политическите ограничения от времето на Студената война да представят творчеството си на свободния европейски и световен музикален пазар.
Това важи и за много произведения, създадени след 1990 г. до членството ни в Европейския съюз, а и след това, поради финансови ограничения и липса на национална културна политика в тази област.
Авторите на този проект поемат предизвикателството да издадат отново десет от тези вечни български песни с поетичен превод на английски език (в съответствие с жанра и насочеността на песните някои от тях ще бъдат представени на френски и испански език), нов аранжимент, съобразен със стила на всяка песен, дигитален звукозапис от професионални певци и музиканти, заснемане на музикално видео за избрани песни, издаване на дигитален албум, който да бъде представен и промотиран в европейските и световни музикални платформи, и представен на живо в три концерта на европейски сцени и фестивали.
Проектът е некомерсиален, дигиталният албум ще бъде предоставен безплатно на българските културни институти и посолства в страните от Европейския съюз и по света, с цел представяне на съвременната българска култура в областта на популярната музика от втората половина на XX век на чуждестранната аудитория, както и представяне в престижни европейски радиостанции и телевизионни програми.
Музикалните и видео продукти, създадени по проекта, ще бъдат придружени с печатно и онлайн издание, което в увлекателен стил ще разказва историята на всяка песен и ще представя нейните автори. Така за пръв път ще бъде направено насочено усилие европейската публика да бъде запозната с творчеството на редица знакови български творци, създали шедьоври на поп-музиката, които досега не са излизали на европейски езици и са на практика неизвестни за световната поп-култура.
